FEDERAL GRAND JURY
IN SOUTH BEND RETURNS INDICTMENTS
South
Bend, IN—The United States Attorney's Office announced that a Grand Jury
sitting in South Bend, Indiana, returned the following Indictments on July 11,
2012:
Ø Yulia Yurevna Abair, 43, of South Bend,
Indiana, was charged in an eight-count Indictment with eight counts of
structuring transactions to evade reporting requirements under Title 31, United
States Code, Section 5313(a). These charges were filed as a result of an
investigation by the Indiana State Police and Internal Revenue Service Criminal
Investigations. This case has been
assigned to and will be prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Donald
J. Schmid.
Ø Willie L. Caldwell aka Willie L. Johnson, 23, of South
Bend, Indiana, was charged in a three-count Indictment with one count of
possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime; one count
of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute; and one count being a
felon in possession of a firearm. These
charges were filed as a result of an investigation by the South Bend Police
Department and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. This case has been assigned to and will be
prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Donald J. Schmid.
Ø Carlia Wells, 28, David C. Dircks,
43, Darnell L. Jackson, 31, and Kimberly Lepitre aka
Kimberly Ann Koris, 44, all of South Bend, Indiana,
were charged in a six count Indictment.
Wells was charged with one count transfer of a firearm to a felon, and
one count providing false statements to federal agents. Dircks was charged
with one count being a felon in possession of a firearm and one count of being
a drug user in possession of a firearm.
Jackson was charged with one count being a felon in possession of a
firearm. Lepitre
aka Koris was charged with one count being a drug
user in possession of a firearm. These
charges were filed as a result of an investigation by the South Bend Police
Department and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. This case has been assigned to and will be
prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Donald J. Schmid.
If
convicted in court, any specific sentence to be imposed will be determined by
the judge after consideration of federal sentencing statutes and the Federal
Sentencing Guidelines.
The
United States Attorney's Office emphasized that an Indictment is merely an
allegation and that all persons charged are presumed innocent until and unless
proven guilty in court.
